Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab di Malaysia tidak asing lagi sama ada melalui kaedah formal ataupun tidak. Subjek bahasa Arab telah dimasukkan ke dalam sukatan pembelajaran sejak dari sekolah rendah, menengah sehingga ke Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (IPT) mengikut keperluan kurikulum dan aliran yang dibawa. Di Univerisiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Bahasa Arab merupakan kursus elektif yang boleh diambil oleh pelajar dari tiga gugusan utama; Sains Sosial dan Kemanusiaan, Sains dan Teknologi serta Sains Pengurusan dan Perniagaan. Bagi pelajar yang memilih subjek Bahasa Arab di UiTM, perbezaan latar belakang pendidikan (bukan aliran agama) menyebabkan pelajar sukar menguasai subjek ini dengan baik kerana tiada/kurang asas terhadap subjek berkenaan. Cara penyampaian sukatan pembelajaran yang mudah dan seronok berpotensi untuk membantu proses pembelajaran. Sehubungan itu, kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan i) mereka bentuk pembelajaran berasaskan permainan untuk subjek Bahasa Arab di UiTM; ii) mebangunkan pembelajaran berasaskan permainan melalui peranti mudah alih untuk subjek Bahasa Arab di UiTM; dan iii) menilai elemen keseronokan yang terdapat dalam aplikasi yang dibangunkan terhadap pengguna. Pembangunan prototaip kajian ini merujuk kepada model Pembelajaran Berasaskan Permainan (Game-Based Learning model). Rangka kerja Agile dijadikan rujukan utama untuk menyiapkan prototaip. Seterusnya, penilaian keseronokan (enjoyment) terhadap prototaip menerusi adaptasi model eGameflow dijana. Hasil analisa deskriptif mendapati bahawa kesemua elemen keseronokan yang terdapat dalam prototaip mendapat skor 50% dan ke atas untuk skala setuju dan sangat setuju. Ianya menunjukkan bahawa kajian ini berjaya memasukkan elemen keseronokan ke dalam pembangunan prototaip.

Abstract

Learning Arabic is commonly known in Malaysia either in formal education or informal education. Arabic subject has been included in the syllabus starting from primary school, secondary school, to higher education institution in accordance to the needs of Malaysia education’s stream and curriculum. In UiTM, Arabic is an elective course that can be taken by the students from three major course clusters; Social Sciences and Humanities, Science and Technology, and Business and Management Sciences. For students who choose the subject of Arabic, differences in educational background, especially for the students who are not coming from religious stream, they would find it difficult to master this subject proficiently as they have no, or less, foundation in Arabic. A simple and interesting method of teaching Arabic subject would have the potential in helping them to learn this language. In response to the matter, this study was conducted in order to develop a game through a mobile device application, with the reference from the syllabus of Arabic subject taught in UITM, as well as guidelines provided by experienced lecturers. The contents available in this application are more directed and systematic. The application prototype development of this study was based on Game-Based Learning model and Agile framework. Next, an evolution of the enjoyment rate of the prototype through the adaptation of eGameflow model was generated. The results of the descriptive analysis have found out that all of the fun elements provided by the prototype scored 50% and above, on the likert scale descriptors of “Agree” and “Strongly Agree”. It shows that this study has successfully incorporated element of fun into the development of the prototype.
